How Gently handles text, account information, subscriptions, and limited technical data.
1. Who we are
Gently Apps, operated by Stéphane Bolduc and based in Québec, Canada, provides writing assistance through the Gently website, browser extension, and related services.

2. Information we collect
We collect only the information reasonably needed to provide and operate Gently.
Text submitted for rewrites
When you ask Gently to rewrite, improve, or translate text, the submitted text is processed to complete your request.
Account and subscription information
We may process limited account or subscription-related information such as an email address, plan type, subscription status, usage or entitlement status, and internal account or customer identifiers.
Payment information
Payments and subscription billing may be handled by third-party payment providers. We do not intend to store full payment card details ourselves.
Technical and usage information
We may process limited technical and service-related information such as browser or device type, extension or app version, rewrite counts, usage limits, general error or diagnostic information, and limited server or security metadata needed to operate the service.
Support communications
If you contact us, we may keep the information you provide so we can respond and maintain support history.
3. How we use information
We use information to provide requested rewrites, grammar improvements, tone changes, and translations; operate and maintain the service; enforce free and paid plan limits; manage subscriptions, trials, and Pro access; respond to support requests; improve reliability and performance; prevent abuse, fraud, misuse, or unauthorized access; and comply with legal or financial obligations where required.
We do not use submitted rewrite text for advertising profiling.
4. AI processing
To provide rewrites and related features, submitted text may be processed by AI service providers acting on our behalf.
Submitted text is processed only to complete the user’s request. We do not intend to store rewrite text after processing, except for temporary handling needed to complete the request or troubleshoot a service issue.
5. When we may share information
We may share limited information with service providers that help us operate Gently, such as providers for AI processing, hosting and infrastructure, payment processing, authentication, databases or account services, customer support or email delivery, and security, diagnostics, or service reliability.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights, users, or service, or in connection with a business transfer, reorganization, or sale if that ever occurs.
We do not sell personal information.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
The Gently website or related services may use cookies or similar technologies for basic functionality, account or session management, security, or limited service analytics. We do not intend to use advertising cookies for behavioral ad targeting.
7. Data retention
We keep information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy.
- Submitted rewrite text is not intended to be stored after processing, except for temporary handling needed to complete the request or troubleshoot an issue.
- Account and subscription data may be kept as long as needed to provide the service and manage access.
- Billing-related records may be retained as required by payment providers, accounting needs, disputes, or law.
- Support communications may be retained as needed to respond and maintain service history.
- Limited logs or diagnostics may be retained for security, fraud prevention, and operational reliability.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your choices and rights
Depending on your location and the nature of the information involved, you may request access to personal information we hold about you, correction of inaccurate information, deletion of account-related personal information where applicable, closure of your account where applicable, or withdrawal of consent where applicable.

10. International processing
Gently and its service providers may process information in countries other than your own, including where servers or third-party providers are located. By using Gently, you understand that information may be processed outside Québec or Canada where applicable.
11. Children’s privacy
Gently is not intended for children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
12. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated version on this page and update the “Last updated” date above.
